Just as there are vast expanses of ocean to explore, at Venture Shift our work begins with action research, with an understanding that transformation requires scale, the ability to handle complexity, and a long-term time horizon.
The ocean offers a global perspective, connecting all cultures. We hold this knowledge in our work, and aim to represent diverse perspectives and cultures in our processes. With extensive research and a depth of understanding, the waves, currents and tides of uncertainty and complexity are embraced.

Mountaineers strive to climb to new heights. This work asks us to set new goals, create new aspirations, and push the boundaries. A long term commitment must be made, enhanced by in depth visioning activity. Rather than simply planning for a summit push, we turn to designing - inquiring into the nature of a problem, and problem setting, rather than problem solving. This way, we become far more prepared in the face of uncertainty, and are more prepared to deal with any conditions the mountain throws at us.

At Venture Shift, all of our “doing” work, whether this be workshops, events, or conferences, is positioned in the context of a journey - fostering patience, adaptability, commitment, learning, and a sense of progress,
River based sports offer a unique and dynamic environment where the substrate is in constant motion - in contrast to land based sports where the substrate is static and more predictable. To skilfully navigate these changing currents and conditions requires a high level of skill and understanding of the river. Similarly, a transformation journey is extremely dynamic, with no set experiences or structure. Venture Shift provides the tools and approaches to skilfully navigate the course ahead.

Collaboration is at the heart of our transformational work. We are convening a radical collection of diverse players from all aspects of the “Sector”, to overhaul its approach to business. The Venture Shift community will provide the shelter, support, and basis for diverse interaction for this difficult work - just as the world’s great forests.
